It’s fair to say that Padraig Harrington and Roger Maltbie have built up reputations as being overall nice guys in the world of golf. Well, it was no more Mr. Nice Guy for these two longtime professionals. After a round at the US Senior Open at Broadmoor Golf Club in Colorado Springs, Maltbie and Harrington get into an argument.
The exchange of words started when Harrington let Maltbie know how frustrated he was that he hadn’t helped him try to find his missing golf ball on the golf course. The two champions ended up going back and forth on the issue and lasted for a minute before the two went their separate ways.
Below is the video of the argument via Brett Foresst of KOAA News in Colorado Springs.
The argument seems like a total head scratcher, as I’m sure Paddy has known Roger for a long time, as well as other reporters, so you’d think he’d know that it’s not a reporter’s job to help look for a golf ball. They already have their own job to do. Sure, they can help if they want to, I suppose, but there are also fans, security, etc, that can help with the search as well.
This would be like a broadcaster in the booth telling a golfer to stop in the middle of their actual job to come to the desk and put on a headset and broadcast for a hole or two. Maybe that example is a bit too extreme, but it’s still just funny to think about. Also, you get the idea.
But Padraig ended up winning the US Senior Open so it was a happy ending on his part. And I’m sure he and Roger made up because, as we mentioned at the start, these are two solid dudes, and on occasion, you see two good guys or girls going at it.
Tyrese Haliburton and Damian Lillard are both terrific guys in the NBA, but both had a heated exchange of words in the playoffs. But, they made up in the end, and that’s likely the case for Padraig and Roger.
