The Masters is near, and there’s nothing quite like it. It’s one golf tournament each year where every sports fan gathers around their TVs and radios to take in the action at Augusta National Golf Club. Although amazing tournaments like the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Players Championship happen before The Masters, the first major of the year is considered the true official start of golf season for many, and that includes at a recreational level too, as the weather starts to turn (unless you’re here in Chicago, where March and early April weather can be really weird).
But The Masters have given us some of the greatest moments in golf. From Jack Nicklaus’ “yes sir!” putt in 1986 to Tiger Woods’ epic chip in 2005, the highlights are endless. Most recently, Rory McIlroy’s incredible second shot on the 15th hole in 2025 will go down in history, and it played a major role in him winning his first Green Jacket at long last and completing the uber-rare Career Grand Slam.
As much as Augusta is known for its rich history and tradition, the legendary club also knows its audience and how to navigate the digital age we live in. They created a new feature for their terrific app called the “Masters Vault,” and it’s a massive treasure trove of essentially every Masters highlight there is, going back to the 1960s.
Now, there is an aspect of this that may come as controversial to some, but this content-rich video vault is powered by AI. Artificial Intelligence has become one of the most polarizing topics worldwide. Some people love it, some people hate it, some are split about but many brands are embracing it, including Augusta National.
I have to say, even if you feel indifferent about AI, you have to admit that this is very cool if you’re a golf fan who loves The Masters. Whatever shot you’re just itching to rewatch, you can do right there and do so anytime you like. And it works for both the website and on the app, so you can watch, no matter what device you’re on at the time.
The Masters is one of those events that golf fans simply can’t get enough of. As a hardcore, longtime gamer, the number one most demanded thing for basically any golf video game has been the inclusion of Augusta National into the game. It’s not just the tournament and all of its drama and excitement, but it’s how incredible Augusta is from both a beauty and design standpoint.
Even in a video game, it’s an absolute treat to see, so the draw is extremely strong. So to be able to go into the Vault and watch a plethora of highlights from the is great tournament and golf course is something that’s a thrill for all of us who love the sport of golf. As someone who absolutely loves The Open, I hope they do something similar with their app to go along with their stellar radio broadcast.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some Anthony Kim highlights to watch in The Masters Video Vault (welcome back to the winner’s circle, AK).
