Corey Conners has been one of the steadier players in golf. He’s notched two PGA Tour victories and has had a few top 15 finishes in majors, including a T6 at the 2022 Masters won by Scottie Scheffler. The Canadian and former Kent State golfer came extremely close to doing something incredible at the Scottish Open.
We all know how hard it is to get a hole-in-one. Easily one of the most difficult things you can do in all of sports. Heck, getting an ace in mini-golf can be tricky at times, let alone the big golf course. Most aces occur on par-3s, but how about a par 4? Well, Corey came super close, and you have to see it to believe it.
Now I know, I know, he didn’t get it, so why is it worth sharing? Well, that’s because you don’t even see it get that close all of the time. Plus, the way the ball landed and then rolled down the slope made it an even wilder shot. But the ball just scurries past the flag as it picks up pace going down that slope.
This is just another of the many reminders of how talented these golfers are. It sounds cliche-ish, but it’s the truth, and it’s really remarkable considering how much most of us struggle with the sport. Sure, you can struggle with any sport, but even some of the greatest athletes have trouble with golf. Yet, pros like Corey continue to show us how mortal we are.
