Wyndham Clark has put together a steady career since turning pro on the PGA Tour back in 2017. The former Oklahoma State and Oregon golfer has grabbed three Tour wins, including winning the US Open in 2023 at historic Los Angeles Country Club.
Clark is both talented and passionate, but some may say, a bit too passionate. During this year’s US Open (won by J.J. Spaun), Clark missed the cut at the legendary but always dangerous Oakmont, and it was just too much for him to handle. So much so that he damaged some lockers at the old club.
This obviously went viral, and as the tweet mentioned, Wyndham has a history of damaging things at a golf course, and so this just adds to his reputation. Well, he finally addressed the media and made an apology for his actions and Oakmont. He mentioned how he “deeply regretted” what he did.
As the NUCLR GOLF/Tron Carter tweet pointed out, Clark also damaged a T-Mobile sign at the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. Some commenters on the Cameron Jourdan tweet have pointed out that it was ironic that Clark is wearing a T-Mobile hat and wondered how the mobile giant still has a deal with him.
As we mentioned earlier, Clark is clearly talented. Winning three times, including a major in two years, is no easy task. But golf is as much of a mental game as it is physical,l as we all know, so it’s always important to keep your emotions in check. Let’s hope that’ll be the case for Clark going forward.
